After eating at Minerva, my buddy and I wanted to grab a beer. We headed to the closest bar, J.J. Muldoons Restaurant and Saloon.

This is a true neighborhood bar, which can be hard to find these days. Often times when somebody calls a bar a “dive bar” it is not even close. This place definitely fits the bill. Crowd was mostly in their 30′s and 40′s. They had trivia in one room and karaoke in the bar area.
The bartender was fantastic. She always made sure that you were taken care of and was very nice. Every night they have a late night happy hour special where a cocktail and beer that they choose is only $2.95. The special last night was for a pint of Sam Adams.
As we were having a drink, a guy walked in with full Kiss make up and no shirt on. He walked around passing out fliers advertising that he was performing tonight. From the flier, we learn his name is Rock Star Gary.

He sat at the bar until the karaoke began. When it started, they invited him on stage to perform a few Kiss songs.
All in all, a memorable evening. I even got up and sang a song, myself. I chose Cutie Pie by One Way.
Next time you find yourself in Gaithersburg, go check this place out.
