I have a love/hate relationship with Summers Restaurant in Arlington, VA. I’ve had some great times here, but my last visit was pretty horrible. Summers bills itself as a “Soccer Bar”, which definitely piqued my interest in the beginning.

I’ve been quite a few times in the last couple years. It’s a decent place to grab a drink and watch a game. It’s literally never crowded. The drinks aren’t too bad.
However, my last visit was a disaster. My friends and I decided to go out and grab some food and drinks. We weren’t looking for anything fancy. We head inside and they tell us to sit anywhere so we grab a booth. We then waited about 15 minutes before anyone even came by the table. The place was pretty empty and they only had one waitress serving the whole room. There was a pretty big group outside, but 15 minutes is too long to wait in an almost empty restaurant.
Our waitress finally came over, and we ordered some beer and a couple of appetizers. The food actually came out pretty fast, but it was extremely underwhelming. We ordered potato skins, chicken tenders, and spinach dip. We also ordered a pitcher of Sam Adams Summer Lager.
The potato skins were soggy, but passable. The spinach dip tasted like a watery soup served with chips. The only decent food was the chicken tenders, which are literally impossible to mess up. We did really like the honey mustard they came with.
While eating, our waitress never came back to the table to refill drinks, check on how the meal was, etc. We had to find the host to track her down. This took another 15 minutes or so.
I’ve had some good times coming here for drinks, but I will never come back and order food. The service is just too poor. You’re better off going across the street and getting a burger from Wendy’s.
