On Friday Night, my sister and I went to Duffy’s Irish Pub before going to see Trans Am at the 9:30 Club.
I’ve been going to 9:30 Club for years and never noticed Duffy’s. It’s located just behind the club.

The first time I went there, my boss was taking me out for beer, nachos, and darts. After that, I knew I had been introduced to something great.
It is bigger inside then you might realize.

They have a great jukebox, great food, and great beer. They also get major points for having a DC United jersey hanging up on the wall.
As far as food, I am a big fan of their nachos, reubens, and tater tots.
On this last visit, I tried their Duffy’s Ale and also had Fat Tire on draught.
This is an awesome bar to hang out, drink beer, listen to music, and throw darts. They even serve cans of Schaefer. This is one of my favorite bars in D.C.
Afterwards, we headed to the 9:30 Club for the concert. While at 9:30, I tried Abita’s Restoration, Flying Dog’s Snake Dog, and Victory’s Golden Monkey. The Abita and Flying Dog were in bottles, the Victory came in a glass.
These were all excellent beers, however my favorite was Flying Dog’s Snake Dog IPA. This is one of the best IPA’s that I’ve ever tried.

Abita’s Restoration was good, but I preferred the taste of the Flying Dog IPA which had more bite.
The last beer was Victory’s Golden Monkey. I am a big fan of Victory beers. This one came in a goblet. This is one of the best offerings from Victory.

Excellent recommendation. I have been to many 9:30 club shows and never knew about this place. While I certainly like getting Ethiopian before shows, this will be a good option to try out sometime.
It’s a great, unpretentious bar. And they run a ton of drink specials. If you show your hand stamp after the show, you get discounted Guinness and Yuengling.
