Hey everybody! I am still recovering from the weekend. Here’s a few odds and ends.
Adventures of a Suburban Food Nerd checked out Ren’s Ramen. I still need to get over there for some soup.
Last Friday was my birthday, so I celebrated with a large mug of grog from Piratz Tavern.
The bottom line about this place: you either love it or hate it. My sisters and I have been a ton of times because we enjoy it. If you have never been, imagine your high school drama group opened and operated a bar.
To have a good experience at Piratz Tavern, you have to know what you are getting yourself into and have a rough idea of what the place is like.
It’s a great place to meet with a couple friends, grab some drinks, and maybe a snack. Some of the staff members are amazing, while others aren’t so pleasant. Don’t take it personally.
The food can be expensive, but it’s very good. If you come with a huge group for dinner and drinks, be prepared to spend a good chunk of change. It’s much more efficient to come for a drink or two and order a sandwich if you get hungry. I like the Caribbean BBQ and Jamaican Jerk Pork sandwiches.
Order the grog. It’s extremely strong, and some can’t handle it. I personally love the stuff. I suggest people at least trying it.
They have belly-dancers and fire dancers, as well as a live band that performs pirate songs on Friday nights. After a large grog, you’ll get it.
The people-watching here is the best I’ve ever seen. This bar attracts all different types of people. You’ll see your regulars, big groups of people celebrating a birthday, and unsuspecting couples.
I can guarantee a memorable night if you decide to check them out. Just make sure you have a means of getting home!
