Last night, a buddy and I checked out Minerva in Rockville off of a suggestion from a coworker. I hadn’t had Indian food in a long time, so we went to check it out.
Located along Rockville Pike, it would be easy to drive past the place.
We were seated and both ordered beers. I tried the Taj Mahal, a 22oz beer that was light and almost tasted like champagne. My friend ordered the Kingfisher, which was a little heavier but still very light. Both beers were delicious.
For dinner, I ordered the lamb vindaloo, which was nice and spicy. I started sweating a little bit towards the end of the dish. My friend ordered the Palak Gosh, which was lamb and spinach. The portions were huge and the food was great.
I’d like to go back and try the buffet.
My only complaint is that the service was not the best. The guy who seated us and refilled our water was excellent, but are server took forever to come around and ask for our order even though it was not crowded.
With that aside, it was a great place and I’d definitely go check it out again. One thing missing from the Wheaton restaurant scene is a good Indian restaurant. My go-to place is still Tiffin, but it would be nice if we had a place in Wheaton.
